Belotero® is specially designed to integrate into your skin and mold to your distinct facial contours. By adapting to the individuality of your skin, it softens lines and wrinkles for smooth and natural results that are unique to you.

Dr. Christine uses this filler for under the eyes and other sensitive areas such as the nose and around the mouth. She feels it gives a more natural look as opposed to Restylane.

WHAT IS BELOTERO®?

Belotero® is a hyaluronic acid injectable filler that completely integrates into the skin tissue. While some fillers are designed to rebuild facial volume and structure, Belotero® specifically treats moderate to severe etched in lines and wrinkles such as vertical lip lines above and around the lips and filling in delicate areas such as under the eye.

Belotero® is a smooth and flexible filler that blends into the natural structure of your skin. It gently fills stubborn etched-in lines and wrinkles. Belotero®’s texture makes it great to fill in areas such as under and around the eyes to create fullness from sagging as well as create a lift of the upper face and cheek. Belotero® may help provide an elegant finishing touch to your skin treatment regimen, noticeably improving the appearance of lines and wrinkles with minimal downtime.

IS THERE A RECOVERY PERIOD?

There’s no recovery time needed. As Dr. Christine approaches Belotero® treatments in a conservative manner, her patients rarely experience side effects.

Side effects are not permanent. If the patient were to experience side effects, common side effects following injection are pain/redness from injection, minimal swelling, which usually subsides in 24 to 36 hours and although infrequent; there may also be some discomfort and bruising. Any discomfort can be managed with medications. Normal activities can be resumed immediately; however, patients are advised to stay out of the sun.

WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT BELOTERO®?

As with all events that involve an injection through the skin, there is a risk of infection. Laser treatments or chemical peels or any other treatments that affect the skin can increase the risk of infection. Do not use Belotero® if you have a skin inflammation or a skin infection. Do not use until the infection is healed.

Patients getting Belotero® may have an injection site reaction. These reactions can include inflammation and usually last less than seven days.

For approximately 24 hours after treatment, avoid:

  • strenuous activity
  • extensive sun or heat exposure
  • aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
  • alcoholic beverages

Exposure to any of the above can cause temporary redness, swelling and/or itching at the injection site.

Belotero® is not used in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding and people who are less than 21 years of age.

WHAT SHOULD YOU TELL DR. CHRISTINE BEFORE INJECTIONS?

Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines that affect blood clotting, like aspirin, an NSAID or warfarin. These medicines may put you at an increased risk of bruising or bleeding at the treatment site.

Tell your doctor if you have a skin reaction like cold sores, cysts, pimples, rashes, hives, or an infection. Treatment with Belotero® should be delayed until the reaction goes away.

Tell your doctor if you are taking medicines that affect your immune system.
